One wall left, and it will require every scaffolding frame we have. It took us a good part of the day to set up two towers three levels high, and a third tower four levels high. This will be good enough for applying the stain. Our crew today was Jeff, Jillena, Ruby and Lydia. While Jeff and Ruby were staining, Jillena put up more radiant insulation in the basement ceiling.

Jeff took the opportunity of a fair-weather day to get as much of the top coat of stain on the back wall as he could. You can see how it goes on white, yet it dries clear. Just a couple more 50 degree-plus days and the staining will be finished. After staining as much as he could reach from the scaffolding, he installed the last piece of soffit paneling, which needed to be scribed against the ridge pole.

Mike was out today and helped Bob and Jeff take down the 4th level of scaffolding and convert our tower into a 3-level structure again. This time we kept everything connected and braced as a single unit. Mike stuck around and stapled lath over the foam board Bob had completed. Jeff also finished spray-foaming the openings around the east cap log top plate.

Bob was hard at work again, fitting foam board on the outside of the back wall, and spray-foaming all of the remaining small gaps from the inside. Jeff was outside working on drip caps, siliconing, and window corbels. Brendan stopped by and did some interior insulating.

It was a cloudy and very windy day today. Bob continued on the rear wall, fitting foam board on the outside and spray-foaming from the inside. Jeff continued his projects of installing drip caps on the front windows, siliconing around the windows, and spray-foaming any remaining small openings on the front wall.

Meanwhile, Jeff installed a set of corbel supports under another window and a few more drip caps. In the evening, Jeff started putting up the insulation around the top of the basement wall.

We had a real chinking party today! Lots of friends came out to help and it made a big difference. We had one crew working on chinking the back wall and another insulating the front wall. With 5-6 people on the scaffolding, we got the entire wall chinked and the scaffolding broken down and moved to the front of the house before sunset. THANK YOU to all who gave up their Saturday to help us.

Jeff cleaned most of the back wall before tearing it down and moving it to the front wall. We left one short tower to reach the last of the upper logs, then tore that down and moved it to the front to complete the towers on the north wall. The rest of the cleaning would have to be done from a ladder.

Another cold day, and windy. Not the best for chinking. We had to use an antifreeze additive in the mortar since the evenings were dipping below freezing. With another great crew, we finished the entire wall.
