Jillena's family came up today with plans to stay all next week. Our goal is to get the electrical ready for an inspection by mid-week. Part of the work today was getting the front two ceiling fan wires down conduits to the floor where they could connect to switched power in a junction box in the basement ceiling. Stephen helped Jillena with some more gardening.

Today was an important and much-anticipated day for us as our rough electrical inspection was this morning. We passed with flying colors! This was our last major milestone before the C of O inspection and we were on an emotional high the rest of the day. Soon after the inspector left, Paul and Jeff started wiring up the panel box and installing receptacles. Jillena was right back at work, cutting and stapling lath on the east wall.

Everyone pitched in today, with Paul, Jeff, Lydia, LouElla, and Julie installing outlets and switches. Jillena worked on chinking the gap at floor-level along the bathroom-bedroom wall and Jeff's cousin Ryan came out to start hanging drywall.

Another LHBA member came to see our house and spend some time working with us. His name is Mike and he drove up from Pennsylvania, stopping at our friend Fletcher's house first. Mike and Paul wired up our outdoor light fixtures by the front door, then Mike offered his drywalling experience and hung a few sheets for us.

Jeff finished the work on the outside GFI outlets and basement entry light, and hung the main kitchen lights. Earlier, lots of drywall work was going on, with Ryan hanging sheets and a crew in the bathroom taping and mudding the joints.

A few days ago, we got the front entry lights hung and wired, but the mounting brackets on the fixtures were not fitting tightly against the metal fixture boxes and consequently were not hanging plumb. So, Jeff cut mounting plates out of 3/4" pressure-treated wood scraps, screwed them to the logs, and secured the fixture brackets against these plates.
