Our original plan was to span the rails between the log roof supports, which are about 3 deck boards in from the edge. We eventually decided to push the rails to the inside edge of the ledger. This involved cutting two holes on the east and west decks for rail posts.		The completed west deck, minus the two boards left out because of the temporary clothesline post.
