At this point, the side bucks are set and ready to be shimmed and bolted. The threshold log has been cut down to the level of the subfloor. |

The bucks are shimmed and bolted to the logs. Since our doors will open inward, we set the bucks to the inside of the wall. We'll add extensions later to come out to the outside of the wall. |
Because the thresholds on the door frames are pitched, they'll have to set on a pitched log. But cutting a slope into the log would be quite difficult, so we took the next best approach. We decided to take the surface of the log down another 2" or so and add a pitched plate that the threshold can sit on. Here's a shot of all of the tools Jeff was using on the threshold log. |

Here's what it looked like after taking the level surface down about 2". Now when the threshold sits on a pitched plate we'll create, it should be nearly level with the finished floor. |
