DECK/PORCH
5-4-12

All the rebar "ladders" assembled out of 48" sticks tied together with plastic zip ties.   Stephen organizing washers on a carriage bolt.

Most of the holes for the footers were simply augered and didn't need form tubes, but 5 holes did. In addition to placing a rebar "ladder" (48" tall) in each 48" hole for added strength, Jeff placed two 18" sticks in the concrete at the top of the hole or tube for adding more concrete to the footer above ground.   Here's one of the rebar "ladders" we made to reinforce the concrete footers.

One of the footer holes partially filled with concrete.   We only filled each hole to just below the surface, leaving a few inches of rebar sticking up. Next, each footer will get a section of form tubing on top and filled with concrete to bring the footer above ground.
