Bob built the longer temporary wall on the floor first...

...then stood it up and screwed it in place.

The other framed bedroom wall will be a dimensional 2x6 wall and include a double pocket door. In this pic, Bob has installed the top plate to the true 6"-wide beam. The 1/2" difference is on the outside of the bedroom and will accept 1/2" finished wall material.

Visible here is the base plate for the wall that will run alongside the kitchen and close off the laundry room. Against the log wall is the last 3x8 ledger ready to go up.
