Jeff worked in the SE corner, grinding down some of the log next to the full-size ledger beam that will sit against the wall. We want the two beams against the east wall to remain parallel with the other beams, rather than follow the taper of the wall log.

After using his circular saw to cut the bevels in the ends of the beams, Bob used his belt sander to give them a nice finish. In this pic, he's working on the beams visible in the stairwell.
