Ted trimming knots with his gas chainsaw.

Instead of fighting the 2nd floor girder extensions on the west wall, Ted got the idea of trying to lift the west log by pulling it up from the south side, directly onto the wall. We began by lifting the first end with the south block and tackle.

Once the end was high enough, Ted and Bob were able to skid the opposite end over enough that the top end can rest on the overdangle.

Next, we disconnected the pulley block from the top end and connected it to the bottom end. This one would do most of the lifting. We connected the opposite pulley block to the top end. Because this one was going to be pulling inward, it would only be used for guiding the top end and eventually lowering it to the wall.

Because the Ford didn't have a lot of room to maneuver, Ted pulled forward so Jeff could shorten his fall line.

With the log on the wall, all we had to do was swing it into position.

This lifting method proved so efficient and fairly simple, that with the remaining time we had to work today, we decided to lift the south log.

Before long, we had this log up and on the wall. That's all we could get done today. We accomplished all of this in the morning. After lunch, it began raining.

The turkeys were out in the field again.
