We've had a significant amount of snow accumulation, along with high winds to create lots of drifting. |
|
Tracks from the White tractor after Jeff dragged the first log off rack #1 and over to the house. |
After brushing the snow off another log, Jeff hooks up the chain and gets ready to start hauling. |
|
The drifting around the log racks is waist-high in spots. Good thing we have the 4-wheel-drive White! |
Another look at the drifts that have piled up under and around the logs. |
|
Jeff backs up and pulls the log off the rack and onto the snow pack. |
Reverse all the way. |
|
This is actually the third of four logs that Jeff is hauling toward the house. Two were already placed on the west and south sides. This one will be dragged around to the front (north) side. |
Jeff got off the tractor to take this pic of the second log propped up on a concrete block and ready for trimming. |
|
Making the wide turn around the septic filter bed. |
At the front of the house, Jeff can only back up so far before getting stuck, so he drove around the log and pushed it to square it up with the house. |
|
John came across the road to help pull the fourth log out. This gave Jeff a chance to take more pics from a different perspective. |
John hauls the last log for course #18 off of rack #1 and heads for the house. |
|
Jeff hitches a ride on the log. |
Heading around the back of the house to the east side. |
|
Dragging the log up near the wall will be tricky on this side of the house since we can't drive over the septic system... |
...so we're going to have to pick it up with the forks... |
|
...and get it as close as we can. |
Close enough! |
|
It's still not up on the hill next to the house, but we can pick it up with the block and tackle now. |
Just enough snow inside the basement to cover our log cross braces. |

The second floor - rear. |
The second floor - front. |

A little distorted due to the wide-angle shot, but you can see how this lifting pole on the north wall has bent toward the left (south). The other north lifting pole has bent in the same direction. Not sure why, but perhaps due to their sun exposure, they have dried out with a curve pointing toward the sun's path. The southern poles have not bent at all, but are also protected by the southern wall. |
