The 5-gal. buckets we cut up 2 weeks ago were used for the pier forms. A long stick of rebar passes through both forms so they'll tie into the floor when it gets poured. To keep the forms from shifting, we wire-tied the long rebar stick to the vertical rebar pins centered in the forms. On the left is our 2x4 skreed and rebar pin "plunger" for getting the air bubbles out.
These piers are sitting on concrete footers which are below finished floor level. They're also 6" tall which will make them 2" higher than the 4" poured floor. Using the 2x4 skreed gives the piers a nice even surface for setting the columns on.

Paul mixing the concrete in the wheelbarrow. To make things easier on us, we used the pre-mixed bags containing sand and stone. We just added water.

Filling up one of the forms. The rebar plunger is in the form, too.

Here's our pond, full of water. This is the same "pond" that was dry all last summer and we were burning brush in.

Before we can dig the pond for fill dirt, we either have to wait for the water to evaporate...or pump it out.
