Looking down the row of rebar pins atop the front wall, you can see that they're all not dead center on the wall. This meant that every pin had two measurements for its location that had to be transferred to the log.

Looking down on the basement floor area. You can see our diagonal cross braces for the butt ends of the lifting poles.

Here's a closeup of one of the chains wrapped around a lifting pole and secured to the nearest rebar pins. So that the chain can't slip off again, we screwed boards right over the chain to the sill plate.
Jeff double-checked the measurements in relation to a string line that ran down the top of the log (which will actually be the bottom when it's laid on the wall). Jeff actually drilled the holes in the log upside down. We first had to determine which way we wanted the log to lay on the wall. Any major bow needs to face outward.
