Once we finished cutting our 6x8 beams, we brought some back from the stack to make kerf cuts in the ends. |
These kerf cuts need to be in the center of the beam on the short edge, and be 8" deep into the beam. This is in preparation for when we set the beams end to end on the 2nd floor girders. In this pic, Jeff marks a squared edge as a reference for the beginning of the 8" cut. |

Once we were finished with 5 beams, we carried them to the front door opening with the tractor, then passed them into the house for stacking. They'll have to be inspected and graded before we can use them. |
