Our two littlest "helpers" were hard at work moving stone.
Jillena and Jeff were up on the west scaffold attaching more pitch brackets for the next bunch of rafters. Pre-drilling into the rough-sawn oak is a must.

Jillena drives in the four nails on the back side of the bracket.
Another one of the guys' "discussion breaks".

Brendon took the rope for the leading end of this rafter.
Jeff grabs his end and sets it on the wall.

Once Paul's end is up, he sets it on the scaffold rail before setting it up onto the ridge pole.
Three are now up on the east side.

Before long, we had five complete sets up.
The sky looked ominous for part of the day, but the rain held off.

Jeff climbs out onto the east overdangle to install the three additional brackets for the roof overhang.
Jillena is there to hand him the drill, hammer, and nails.

(Jillena must not be nearby to see this.)
50-year warranty on the panels that will eventually be the sub-roof. We put the same stuff in the sub-floor, only because we had it on-hand at the time.

LouElla was up on the center tower helping her dad.
Paul has his pulley rigged and ready for lifting.

On the ground, Bob and Lydia pull Paul's end up in a dead lift.
As it ascends, Jeff takes up the slack in his rope and gets ready to lift his end.

Paul reaches down to pull his end around the side of the ridge pole.
Jeff waits for Paul's end to get high enough above the ridge pole before he can pull his end up.

Bob tied a "handle" in his rope to aid in pulling.
Lydia is right behind him, helping with the pull.

Paul's end is around the side of the ridge pole. While Bob and Lydia hold it there...
...Jeff can begin lifting his end.

As Jeff's end gets higher, Paul slides the rafter further over the ridge pole.
I bet Jeff is wishing he had a pulley, too.

Jeff then picks up his end and sets it on the cap log plate. It's much easier to slide the rafter down to position on the sill than when it's sitting in it's bracket.
Slipping the rope off the end before sliding the rafter down the sill plate.

The rafter in its position right after lifting and before sliding it down the sill.
Paul tells Jeff which way the rafter needs to go so the top end will rest just over top-center of the ridge pole.

Once the rafter is in it's relative position...
...Paul secures a rope to his end and wraps it around the ridge pole to tie it off. This will hold it in place while it's mate is pulled up from the other side.

All set with this one. Time to raise the other rafter in this set.
Paul's end is up, and Jeff has begin raising his.

Jeff has picked up his end and waits for...
...Paul to untie his end.

.Jeff inches the rafter downward...
...while Paul guides it until it lines up with its mate.

Two more rafters, and we had seven full sets up.
A beautiful sunset to bring a long, hard day to an end.
