Yesterday, John and Jeff had gotten the thrid lifting pole over the wall and positioned, ready for lifting.
That's Steve on top of the fireplace foundation where the log set on the wall.

With the block and guy ropes attached to the top end, we used the forklift to raise the log as high as we could so it would be easier for the tractor to pull it up from the opposite side of the house.

With the log lifted up by the forklift, we used a plank to brace it while we hooked up the tractor from the opposite side.

We are often reminded of how difficult it is to work with limited equipment. In this shot, the log has fallen off it's brace and has bent another piece of rebar over.

That's Jeff scaling the wall so he can help rig the tractor forks rising up over the wall on his left. The block & tackle attached to the top of the pole are slung over the wall to his right. He'll attach the block to a chain on the forks.

It's working! John slowly backs the tractor up and the log rises into the sky. Jeff, Dave and Lori were manning one guy rope, while Steve and Mike manned the other rope to keep the pole going up straight.

All was well, until the pole got to about the height in the photo to the left, and Jeff, Dave and Lori ran out of rope! The pole immediately began to tip away from them and it fell right over the wall. But we didn't give up. A half hour later, we had the pole moved around the house and back over the wall.

Well, after all that, we called it a day. We were all frustrated and felt like nothing got accomplished. We'll figure this out yet.
