Jon pounds a wedge between the log and the lifting pole to get the inside edge plumb.
William was a huge help. He got muddier than his dad since he did a lot of ground work, getting us tools when we were up on wall.

After Jon's end was pinned in place, Jeff worked at plumbing the opposite end.

When he wasn't getting muddy, William could be found on the tractor.

Jeff drilling holes for the rebar pins.

Here you can get an idea of the extent of the mud and water around the house.

There are ruts everywhere from the tractors, which are getting difficult to steer.

Jeff rigs up a chain sling and pulley block on the next log to be lifted. We decided to pin each log in position at each end, then drill and drive the rest of the rebar in all four logs all at once.

After lifting it half-way up the wall, Jeff checks the log for any obvious bows.

It looks pretty good from both ends, so the log will be set on the wall just as it is in the slings.

After Jon left, Jillena was Jeff's only helper, but a big help at that. Lifting a log is a 2-person job. They each operated a tractor to get the log up on the wall.

At the end of the day, two of the four logs for the third course were set and pinned in place.
