The two guy ropes that have been tied to the tops of each lifting pole get anchored to their adjacent poles with eye lag bolts. |
|
These ropes will provide stability for the poles as well as counter-resistance against the force of the block & tackle when they are used for lifting the wall logs. |
The southeast lifting pole with the guy ropes anchored to the adjacent poles, forming an "X" pattern. |

A view of the back of the basement. You can barely see the "X" pattern of the guy ropes against the clouds. |
Looking at the front of the basement with the two front poles tied off to the other poles, as well as to anchors outside the walls. |
|
The block & tackle of the "new" northwest lifting pole tied off to a rather heavy tree trunk. |
The block & tackle of the "new" northeast lifting pole tied off to an iron stake. |

Looking up the northeast lifting pole from outside the basement. |
A view from the log racks. |
